Biomass-Based Silica/Calcium Carbonate Nanocomposites for the Adsorptive Removal of Escherichia coli from Aqueous Suspensions

The present study deals with the adsorptive removal of Escherichia coli (E. coli) by making use chitosan-silica/calcium carbonate (CS-SiO2/CaCO3) nanocomposites (NCs) where it was synthesized using waste eggshells and rice husks occurred natural sources. bioadsorbent CS-SiO2/CaCO3 NCs were incorporating eggshell-CaCO3 nanoparticles (NPs) husk-SiO2 NPs in chitosan solution. adsorbents characterized HRTEM, BET, DLS, TGA. characterization revealed formation range 10–50 nm some structural changes to spectra before after adsorption E. FTIR analysis. Moreover, efficiency over 35 min incubation about 80% for NCs. Further, kinetics studies observed be well-fitted Langmuir isotherm model an capacity 3.18 × 101 (CFU coil per gram CS-SiO2/CaCO3). From analysis, demonstrated potential ameliorating inherent risk pathogens water.
